A car collided with a train between Bácsalmás and Mélykút, at a railway crossing on Thursday (28th October).
On October 28th, 2021, around 7:18 a.m., a car and a train collided between Mélykút and Bácsalmás – on a railway crossing road – under unclear conditions – reported baon.hu.
One of the five women sitting in the car was killed on the scene and one suffered life-threatening injuries, she was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter. None of the passengers on the train were injured.
According to baon.hu, workers were traveling in the car. The car was driven by a woman. According to the available information, the car was parked in the gateway due to a technical failure when the train arrived. Three people, the driver and two passengers, were able to leave the vehicle in time, while two were unable to escape from the car.
The news portal reports that a woman of Romanian nationality in her 70s lost her life in the accident. After the successful resuscitation, the passenger, who was badly injured in the accident, was transported to the Szeged clinic by an ambulance helicopter.
