The new Erasmus+ students have arrived at the University of Szeged

The University of Szeged held orientation days for new Erasmus+ students who arrived for the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. The students unanimously say that after the first few days, they like the environment and look forward to the next semester. Most of them are visiting Szeged for the first time, they chose the University of Szeged because of its good reputation.

At the usual orientation event of the Erasmus+ program, Prof. Dr. Márta Széll, Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning
professor at the University of Szeged, greeted the newly arrived international students. In the second semester of this year, 102 Erasmus+ students will start their studies at the University of Szeged, 40 of them have been studying here since the beginning of the academic year, and 62 students have arrived for the second semester. The 102 students came to the 9 faculties of the University of Szeged from 58 universities in 49 cities in 14 countries.

Dr. Márta Széll expressed her hope that international students will have a good time at the University of Szeged and will make useful contacts during the Erasmus+ program. Introducing the University of Szeged, she said that the academic year 2023-2024 was a successful year for the university: in the fall, more than 9,000 new students, including a thousand new international students, started their studies. A total of around 5,000 international students study at the University of Szeged, and with this, the university offers a real multilingual community to the students here. Finally, Dr. Márta Széll wished the participants of the new Erasmus+ program nice experiences and useful knowledge, who then got to know the coordinators of the relevant faculties and departments.

This year, the most Erasmus+ students came from Romania, and 20 came from Transylvanian universities. 18 came from Turkey, 16 each from Italy and France, 9 from Spain, and 6 from Germany. Apart from them, 4 students from Portugal, 4 from Greece, 2 from Slovakia, 2 from Sweden, and one student each from the Netherlands, Poland and Cyprus came to the University of Szeged.
